Men's Section Summary

Player (Vet.) of the Season: Greg McGuire

Men's Summary: A good season overall from the men's section. League wins for the B-Team, C-Team; Runner-up for the D-Team; Solid performance from the E-Team; A rebilding phase begun for the A-Team.

Ladies Summary: Well ... don't know all the news here! But Cup win's for the A-Team and the B-Team rounded off a fun and solid season for the ladies section.

MENS COMMENTARY

A-Team: Not a fantastic season by KCC standards. Perhaps rebuilding is underway as a number of young players were exposed to top-level HK hockey. Harry and Jimmy led from the front. Arif Ali's skill and experience was missed. The young players in Healthy, Jacky, Mandeep and others tried hard. A little hardness was missing in the bigger games against rivals like HKFC, Valley, Bullets, Shaheen and other. The club looks forward to the new season and better results.

B-Team: A final stumble in the cup brought to an end a fun and rewarding season from the B's. The team bonded well. The result was a legaue WIN and a last-minute loss to Arch-Rivals Valley C in the final of the Cup Championship. However - all the members of the team know that a great deal was left in the tank that day! Well played to all! Thanks to KAM for his Captaincy ... and welcome to the fold TOBY BROWN from down-under ... the 2006/7 captain.

C-Team: Champions at last! Defeating the D-Team into second place! A good season from KCC dominated the league and the clubs top goal-scorer JOE PANNU led the way with some great shots on the KCC Grass Pitch.

D-Team: Runners-up to the C-Team meant a rewarding season for KCC. The team had great fun, but after a number of close encounters with the C's, had to settle for a few drinks on the balcony and second place. But I think the D'd know it's a job well done! MVP - Sawar Mohamed.

E-Team: A season of 2 halves ... one good and one not so good! But the team classifies this as a season of consolidation and moving up a league meant better opposition and a bumpy landing. Simon Mann led from the front and the team came out in a good positon overall. Well-played.

KCC A 2 ( Harry & Greg) drew with SSSC A 2

Despite some unforced error in our games, the team is building on it's teamwork and fighting spirit and came back from nearly defeats to level the past two games against the leader of the league and SSSC - who we have lost to for the past two seasons. Further improvements is still needed for the team to be real title contenders though. Everybody still need to work on their game, that will bring success to the players and joy to the KCC supporters.
Giggs got a very well worked short corner and Harry managed to redirect into the goal again! He will probably have a bit more to say about it though! It was another great game to watch!

Man-of-the-match: Giggs for playing on beyond the call of duty ...

KCC B 2 (Ravi and Sky) beat Valley C 1

KCC Bs emerged from their keenly anticipated table topping clash with Valley with a hard-fought but well deserved 2 - 1 victory at Happy Valley yesterday. Captain Kam was still absent having spurned all offers of veterinary assistance to get him back into action so James Gibbs returned to his former role as leader.
The game started with KCC having most of the possession and pressure but Valley looking dangerous on the break. Ken Wong in the centre was distributing the ball well with Dale on the left and Bails on the right making incisive runs outside the Valley defence. After 15 minutes KCC conceded their customary first goal after a rapid Valley break from their own D left the elderly portion of the KCC defence trailing in their wake. This was however just a further incentive for the forwards to up their game, including the unprecedented sight of Ravi intercepting a ball well inside his own half. The goal was not long in coming, a fine sweeping move across the field culminated in beautiful through ball from Dale and a spectacular reverse stick shot into the roof of the net from Ravi, undoubtedly the goal of the season so far, except for mine against Rhoba.
After half time the game began to look more comfortable for KCC with Anton, Haydn and Derek looking more and more assured at the back Valley were getting frustrated and continually losing the ball to our tireless midfield. The winning goal came as no surprise with Skye rounding off a fine move through the middle with a crisply taken shot into the corner. Late pressure from Valley came to nothing with the defence breaking down all their efforts and a dubious last second short corner kept out well by the defence and Kelson.

Man of the Match: Derek for yet another faultless assured performance at the back. With apologies to Ravi because it was a great goal.

KCC C 2 (Fred x 2) beat Valley D 1

KCC D 3 (Duncan x 2, Iqbal) beat Police A 2

Team-sheet - Tommy, Sarwar, Ravi, Lim, Patrick Wong (E's - defender),
Allah, Duncan, Kevin (1st half and part of 2nd half), KK, Patrick, Robbie,
Iqbal, Ian Choo, & Carl. We did have a good number for yesterday game. Thanks.

The police started with 8 then within minutes reinforce to 9, 10, 11 12....
and took the lead 1-0 before Duncan equalized with the short-corner and
shortly later converted a penalty to make it 2-1 lead for half time.

After the interval..The Police threw everything forward and level the score
to 2-2 and could have gone further ahead if not of our tough defending.. We
retained the lead from a great pass by Duncan into the 'D' and Iqbal
score... held on till final score 3-2 for another KCC D win.

Man-of-the-match: Duncan (2 great goals)
