KCC E versus ENERGY
5 February 2006

Result: KCC E (1) beat Energy (0)

Commentary: KCC E got a much needed deserved win to avoid their contining gravitation towards the bottom of the 4th division. The E's where without their veterans Anil and Abdul and this allowed Ravi and Ronald to come back in. Eamonn made a rare hockey appearance, but was still suffering from celebrating Ireland's rugby win against Italy. Energy lived up top their name and were too lively for a 9am game, but KCC scored in the middle of the first half when ah Yuen deflected Eamonn's hammered drive across the 'D' that creeped into the goal. The tactic of hammering from the Eamonn created a few more chances as the younger Energy could not stop cleanly on grass. Our youngster 'wee ons' grew in confidence as the game progressed, Ricardo, Ravi, Samuel all doing their part...

Blog man-of-the-match: Ronald
(... with his boxing jabs that kept Energy at bay to earn man-of-the match.)

KCC B Friendly versus Valley C
(February 5th, 2006)

Result: KCC B (3) defeated Valley C (2)

Commentary: A fun friendly game held on the Valley Astro saw KCC triumph from a 12h30 push-back. Captain Kam led from the bench in the first half. Good performances by all players resulted in a solid victory with a touch of West Indian Flair. Ritchie got a goal. Dale got two. There was one "TEAM goal" according to Hayden in central defence (Ritchie, Dale ... who stole the goal). A team drink would be a good idea next time, whether a coke, a beer, or whatever! Rory and Anton propped up the bar at the KCC for the afternoon where Carlsberg was flowing nicely.

Blog Man-of-the-match: Ritchie (for a lot of hard work, and one nice touch too few ... if that makes sense!)

THE COFFIN MATCH
(4 February 2006)

History: KCC and HKFC use to be the Hong Kong Hockey Club a few moons ago! When they split, due to large numbers of players both north and south of Victoria Harbour, the hockey section at KCC and at HKFC were born. Go Figure! Well these days they play a historical game to remember the origins of both clubs. It's a great tradition that hasn't been played for a few years and its great that it has started up again.)

Result: Coffin Match
KCC Invitation (8) vanquished HKFC Invitation (6)

Commentary:
To quote from the post match presentations: "It was a game of two halves!" And indeed it was!
A thrilling game for the spectators to watch! End to end stuff. HKFC led 1-0 (I think) before KCC got on the board and opened up a 6-2 lead at the break. HKFC fought back hard through some courageous runs from the Mid-field and Back-three and managed to get within one goal just before time ... before Harry put Deepa away for the FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN!
The dutchmen managed also to contribute to both teams by hitting the WOODWORK (Post and Bar) on 4 occasions between them, in addition to another rocket against the post from HKFC (KCC won the post contest 3 to 2 as well thanks to Feico).
Bad luck Paddy! Least you get to practice with the KCC!

Blog Man-of-the-Match: Viky (much solid defending)
