Friday 17th February:

KCC A versus ACM (League)

KCC A (6) defeated ACM (1)

KCC had too much in the tank on Friday evening for an ACM team with a great deal of spirit but in desperate need of coaching and structure. KCC fielded a depleted A team, but managed to play fluent hockey and were lucky not to have scored more. One-shot-one-goal described the experience at the other end where ACM were able to scramble one goal against the run of play. Jimmy ("the kid" as we found out on Sunday the 19th) stuck to what he does best ... and had an impeccable game in the central mid-field. Harry too performed better and looks to be coming gradually back to form. Solid performances from Feico, Greg, Ant, Jacky, etc were good to see. Post match escapades were hilarious as Paddy stepped up to join a few KCC lads at Sportsmans Bar and all over Wan Chai!

Blog-Man-of-the match: Jimmy "the kid" for focusing on hockey and not on his six-shooter!

Sunday 19th February:

KCC A versus VALLEY A (League)

KCC A (1) lost to Valley A (2)

This was a hard fought battle at Kings Park. Decisions by the match officials were questionable at times with a great deal of complaining by senior members in both teams. Dirty play was extensive. It certainly appeared reckless at times as both teams made rash tackles and cotinued the end to end brawl. I don't think this match was an example of HK hockey that the match officials would have been proud with. A goal by KCC at the death was disallowed as both match officials claimed to have not see what happened. Jacky Chan deflected the ball into the goal off a Valley Boot ... so what ended up being a long corner, should at least have been short! Ummmh!
KCC would do better to play the pretty hockey that their talented players so often can do, rather than trying to defeat a group of thugs at their own game! Better luck next time KCC. Well done to Valley A.

Blog-Man-of-the match: Thomas for a solid performance on the right.

KCC B (What was left of them!) versus RHOBA (League)

KCC B (1) Defeated RHOBA (0)

This wasn't a case of fast or slow! It was a case of survival. KCC B started with a limp and at won stage were crawling! Kam (OK - plenty stitches and 2 week off), Phil (the one-leg wonder) and Rory (the wannabee one-leg wonder) were all out of order! But the team stuck to the task and some dirty competition to see GORDON "Simply the Best" roof a ball from short range into the 'Nathan Road End' goal to the delight of his teammates! Bravo!
The team settled into an interesting formation in the second half ... but it all worked out in the end. Skye ran hard as did Ant, James, Derrick, Toby, and the King called "Hayden" who deserves man of the match for end to end athletics!

Blog-Man-of-the match: Hayden ... for a 100% effort!

KCC C (What was also left of them!) versus Elite B

KCC C (0) drew with Elite B (0)

With Eamonn dragged kicking from his love palace at 10h15, KCC managed to get 8 players and survive the onslaught of Elite. Apart from the 13 versus 8 players ... the game looked to be a well-matched affair ... in fact end to end stuff. KCC were happy with the draw and from where I stood, it look an honest result.

Blog-Man-of-the match: Eamonn ... for making up the necessary 8!
