KCC's A-team captain leads from the front...

"He made that goal out of absolutely nothing, a thing of beauty.... I actually think it's the best, most opportunistic goal that I've seen... but please don't tell him that!" (A spectator's point of view ...)

KCC A versus Pakistan A (League)

KCC A (2) drew with Pak A (2)

A good performance by the As who refused to be overawed by a strong Pakistan team despite falling behind in the second half. The first half was tight with few clear cut chances at either end and the game was scoreless going into the break. However, the game opened up in the second half after Pakistan struck early with two quick goals in as many minutes. However, the KCC defence tightened up and played very well for the remainder of the game to keep out a number
of dangerous attacks by the Pakistan forwards. The As struck back after a strong passage of play through a nicely taken deflection by Harry following a sweetly struck pass into the D as the Pakistan defence backed off. Fifteen minutes to go and the As were right back in it. KCCs second short corner of the half saw a pre-planned deflection by Giggsey heading for the roof of the D, only to be stopped on the line by the raised stick of Pakistans lastman. A penalty flick was awarded for hitting the defenders chest, which it didn't but a stroke was the right decision. Unfortunately, the Pakistan keeper got down to stop Jimmy "the Kid's" penalty and with less than 10 minutes remaining the As were still trailing 2-1. With time running out the defence stopped a mazy run by the Pakistan captain and surged down field, with Harry finishing off the counterattack with a superb diving effort to jab a loose ball between the keepers legs for the equalizer. 2-2 the final result, with a strong team performance including the welcome return of Jamie Collaco on the left wing. The KCC spectators noted the second half was some of the best hockey seen from the A team in recent years and added to the skills of the Pakistan players made for a very entertaining game with both teams playing the match in a competitive, but good natured manner throughout.

Blog-Man-of-the match: Harry ... a stirling performance ... leading from the front!

KCC B versus Pakistan B (League)

KCC B (4) routed Pakistan B(0)

A great game for KCC who took the 'bull by the horns' and never looked back. Apart from 5 minutes in the first half and a few minutes early in the second half, KCC were pretty dominant. Pakistan can consider themselves luck that the tally was not double with a number of near misses!

Ravi obliged with a slow beginning followed by 3 super goals. Paul Bails added another for a solid 4 - 0 victory!

Great midfield play by Toby, Ant, Hayden, Dale, Gordon, Derrick ... and the others not mentioned! The best game the Blog master has seen thus far from the B's

Blog-Man-of-the match: Ravi with the hat-trick !!

KCC C versus Shaheen B

KCC C (2) beat Shaheen B (1)

A hard fought context which made for exciting viewing! With the A's catching watching ... the C's were playing like a team possessed! Well done to all and Shaheen once again had the carpet wipped from beneath their feet by two superb strikes by Joe: a firm strike and a nice flick!

Blog-Man-of-the match: Joe ... for two gr8 goals!

KCC D versus Nav Bharat

Result KCC D (2) beat NBC (1)

This was the third time that the Ds have played NBC. We won the first league encounter 1-0, we won the cup game 5-0 after a lack of opposition, and this one 2-1. As a club, Nav Bharat are down on their luck from the days whenthey were the premier side in Hong Kong, but they played in a good spirit and have one or two very talented youngsters.

We were mainly old, we had Ian Choo back and he showed what we have beenmissing by taking a great goal. Stand-in captain PPE claimed many assists for shots that didn't go in... Iqbal scored the other goal. Although wewere not really troubled for much of the match, we didn't convert our overall pressure into goals and the last 15 minutes was a bit tense with some highly dubious umpiring decisions adding to the pressure. Sarwar marshalled the defence with his usual aplomb with LIM having his usual good game andRavi showing very promising development as a defender of quality.

Man of the Match was awarded to someone who gave up a life of sitting on sun-kissed beaches surrounded by topless girls, swimming, golfing, surfing, sipping chilled wine in the sunset, throwing down a 'cold one' and generally lounging around to fly half way round the world to turn out for the greatest sporting outfit the nine o'clock Sunday slot at KCC has ever seen. Step forward Captain Robbie. I should add that he manfully left his wife to finish the painting, decorating and gardening before he gets back.

Blog-man-of the match: Robbie ( for being Robbie !)

KCC E versus SKYERS

Result KCC E (4) beat Skyers (1)

Eamonn dragged him outself from bed again after at night watching/listening to Oasis and being kept awake by the love god upstairs. Things looked to be going to plan with Ken scoring from a solo from 23 m line. However Sethi was bambozzled by the pitch to make it 1-1 ... so where could more goals come from as the E have being suffereing a drought this season ... Short corners ! A change 3 minutes from the 1st half allowed Eamonn to come in just before a short corner - Samuel's push, Ken off-load, James pass, Eamonn's shot, save and Anil flicks to score. Second half Eamonn comes up again from left back to another short corner..this time it Ken, Eamonn..smack..goal ! Another off load to James on the right..smack..goal..from another short corner to make it 4-1.

Actually a good team effort with everyone doing their part. Anil was back, and looked dangerous with his shots up front ( maybe he should stay further from the backline so his shot would not be from acute angles). Samuel looks to have matured as left midfield, the defence looked solid with Eamonn also providing much needed the passes and running links to the mid-field and forwards.
